Riverina Community College Welcomes Community at 2025 Open Day

On Wednesday, 9 April, Riverina Community College (RCC) opened its doors to the community for an inspiring and engaging 2025 Open Day, shining a spotlight on the diverse programs, services, and opportunities available for individuals, businesses, and families across the Riverina region.

Designed to showcase how RCC can support career growth, workforce development, lifelong learning, and community wellbeing, the event brought together a dynamic mix of demonstrations, information sessions, and local service providers, all in one vibrant, welcoming space.

Guests had the opportunity to explore full qualifications through live demonstrations, including Certificate III in Hairdressing, Beauty Services, and Makeup. They also met with industry-experienced trainers who shared their knowledge and insights into real-world learning, while discovering RCC’s wide range of short courses, including Barista Skills and First Aid, among many others, as well as community programs like The Art Factory and various NDIS initiatives. RCC staff were available throughout the day to discuss tailored training solutions, career pathways, and how the college can support individuals, employers, and young learners in achieving their goals.

The day was officially opened with a moving smoking ceremony led by Ryder McDonnald setting a meaningful and respectful tone for the event. RCC was honoured to welcome Aunty Mary Atkinson, whose presence reinforced the importance of cultural connection and community spirit through a welcome to country.

The event also featured support and participation from several prominent community leaders and organisations, including Allan Lean from the Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga, Deputy Mayor Georgie Davies, Sally Manning from the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber, and Susan Bruce and Stacey Suidgeest, representatives from Training Services NSW, who continually contribute to the success of RCC and highlights the value of strong partnerships between education and local business.

The Open Day was a true celebration of collaboration across the region. A number of local support services, including VERTO, Riverina Hit FM, GTES, APM, Services Australia, Vinnies, and many more, were on site to share resources, connect with attendees, and explore partnership opportunities to further support the Wagga Wagga and surrounding communities.

Whether visitors were exploring a new career, seeking to upskill their team, or looking for the right path for a young learner, the 2025 Open Day was a powerful reminder of the value of accessible education, strong community ties, and lifelong learning.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated, from enthusiastic attendees to the local leaders and organisations who showcased their services and made the day truly special.

We’re already looking forward to welcoming everyone back for our 2026 Open Day!
