A White Card is a mandatory requirement for construction workers in Australia. This means that if you want to work in the construction industry, you must have one, you are not allowed to work on a construction site without a White Card. White Card is the common name for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry training course.
Holding a valid White Card means that you have completed official, certified general construction induction training with a registered organisation within Australia. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
Entry Requirement
The specific course entry requirements are as follows:
- Minimum age is 15 years of age.
- Students must wear closed in work boots.
- Provision of the participant’s Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- Provision of Australian legal photo identification for assessment purposes.
- Individuals may undertake general construction induction training with limited or no vocational experience and without a lower-level qualification.
- LLN – This course requires a command of spoken English with a capacity to read and follow simple instructions, locate, and recognise numbers commonly used in safety signs and verbally communicate with others.

100 points of current ID which may include:
- Australian Birth Certificate – 70pts
- Australian drivers' licence – 40pts
- Medicare card – 25pts
- ATM card – 25pts
- Utilities bill – 25pts
